Southern California is home to some of the best restaurants and eateries in the world. Many of them are located on the beach itself or has great views overlooking the Pacific Ocean. As many of our clients are out-of-towners and others not completely familiar with the region, we have created a list of the best oceanview restaurants in the Greater LA region! From Mexican food at the end of the Santa Monica Pier to dining in the SoCal sand at Carbon Beach, here are our favorites for gazing over the Pacific while enjoying a nice meal.
Many of the most popular on-the-sand restaurants are located in the Malibu area and served daily by our Malibu limousine vehicles. Some of the most popular eateries here include the Beachcomber Cafe at the Pier, Duke’s, Beau Rivage, Nobu Malibu, and Gladstone’s 4 Fish. Some of the ones located on the beach itself include Geoffrey’s, Mastro’s Ocean Club, Duke’s Malibu and Paradise Cove Beach Cafe, restaurants such as Nobu and the Strand House are located high above overlooking the beach and ocean. The Beachcomber, Mariasol in Santa Monica and Tony’s On The Pier in Redondo Beach are all restaurants submerged by the ocean to all directions located on beach piers.
Strolling the Venice Boardwalk? Head to the Venice Whaler right by the Venice Pier for some amazing food by the seaside. In Manhattan Beach? The Strand House is a popular restaurant for many riding with our Los Angeles party bus or limousines. In Marina del Rey? Head to the Cheesecake Factory, Cafe del Rey or the SALT Restaurant & Bar at the Marina del Rey Hotel for some great dining in the world’s largest small craft harbor. Many clients on Malibu- or Santa Barbara wine tours love the opportunities to taste wines while overlooking the ocean. The Deep Sea Tasting Room on Stearns Wharf and the Rosenthal Tasting Room in Malibu are two great wine-tasting venues by the seaside. Although no ocean view, many using our LAX sedan service have talked about the great wine-tastings at the SeaLegs Wine Bar at the airport.
Among our Santa Monica clientele, the Lobster on Ocean Avenue is a popular place for dining while looking over one of the region’s most popular beaches. Another Santa Monica pick is Catch at the Hotel Casa Del Mar, which offers some sweeping views and seafood. Wanna dine in the sand at Santa Monica Beach? Head to the Back on the Beach Cafe at the Annenberg Community Beach House! Most famous for its lunches and breakfast, this cafe offers seating in the sand under the palm trees at one of the world’s most famous beaches. For a sweeping view of the Santa Monica Beach from up above, check out the Penthouse at the Huntley Hotel. A trending LA limo getaway is Mar’sel of Palos Verdes with French cuisine and stunning ocean views, but about 45 minutes south of Los Angeles.
Although far from the ocean, the Restaurant at the Getty Center may offer the best sunset views in the Greater L.A. Area. With views of Downtown, Hollywood, the Pacific Ocean and even the California Channel Islands, few views can beat the views from the Getty Center restaurant. The cafe at the End of the Universe at the Griffith Observatory is a similar option, with great views from high above. Looking for a place where you can stroll the beachside and stop by for a snack or drink here and there? Your best bets would be the oceanfront walkway at Venice- and Santa Monica, or strolling down the coast in Santa Barbara. And then of course there is Avalon on Catalina Island where you can experience great ocean-views and dining, for example at the Descanso Beach Club and elsewhere. Clients going on Santa Barbara wine tours often like to combine the wine-tastings with great seaside dining. Some of the best bets here include the Boathouse at Hendry’s Beach, the Shoreline Beach Café and the East Beach Grill.
By biking or walking down the Ocean Front Walk on Venice Beach or the Santa Monica Boardwalk, you will easily find various diners with gorgeous views. For our LA limo riders, some of the most popular picks here are Sam’s by the Beach, Back on the Beach Café, as well as the Ivy At the Shore. Looking for restaurants closer to Ventura County? Three sea-side restaurants in Oxnard include Moqueca Brazilian Cuisine and Sea Fresh Channel Islands on Harbor Boulevard, as well as Fisherman’s Catch on S. Victoria Avenue.
So what’s the best oceanview restaurant in SoCal? Well, you guessed it, it depends on who asks. For many, the location is supreme at Duke’s Malibu, while others think the views from Mar’sel are unbeatable. We’ve had passengers flying in and calling our LAX sedan service to head to the Annenberg Community Beach House. Here they go for a lunch and beer before heading for a swim or strolling the oceanfront of Santa Monica Beach. For others, a sunset dining cruise from Santa Barbara has the ultimate view.
